TEAMWORK

Coming to The Culinary Institute of America, has enabled to be around a lot of different leaders with varying leadership styles. Seeing how their leadership styles transform their ability to build teams has influenced my decision making in the bakeshops. During externship my chef was able to build a well working team by coming together before each shift, and having lineups to talk about what needed to be done for the day, and how we could help other people with their work. During the lineups he would talk to each individual to see if we had any questions, and to tell us specifically what we had to achieve for that day. In doing this we learned how to work together and problem solve on our own and communicate with each other. As Peter F. Drucker said, “Management is doing things right, leadership is doing the right things”. My chef’s style of leadership allowed him to do the right things all the time by his employees, making them happy.
