Synergy

What makes a person work? Do they do it out of passion, or do they do it out of money? It is within Chapter 7 of the course textbook that a single word stands out. It is quite possibly the most fantastically underused word in all of words known, yet it is seen everywhere. The word illustrates so much more than just a mere meaning of other text… it resembles the lifestyle of efficiency and production. It is the Swarchchild radius of production in which when one experiences such a work ethic they never want to return to the old. The word is…Synergy!

Synergy, in layman’s terms, is completing a task faster and more efficient with the help of others. Synergy is the absolute portal to everything managerial. This is because without synergy managers would be pulling out their hair because they would be losing money since their crew was not getting along. Chapter 7 also covers the difference between formal and informal team leaders. I believe that this is a very important skill to know. I am sure that everyone in the lifetime has worked at a place where there is the appointed leader, say the sous chef, and then there is the informal leader, your coworker that knows the ropes better. It is seen everywhere, but the sad thing is that this is seen a little too often.

Teams are in important idea that every industry must understand and execute with mastery in order to be a successful place of operation. Just like the leader category, there is also a forked road for teams. There are formal teams and informal teams. The formal teams are those that have been put together based on the companies’ decision, whereas the informal teams form naturally throughout the workplace. It is the informal teams that I would love to see everywhere. Sure the formal teams might be logistically calculated to be more efficient, but the informal ones are those that are comfortable with each other. It is the team that understands each other because they work side by side each and every day, and are even more efficient when they work together producing a cohesive team.

Teams and synergy are great, but they are nothing unless you give them what they want. They want feedback. The team does not want to work day and night, turn in a project, and go on with their lives. They want to know how they did, or what they can do to make it better. The team demands communication. It is communication that glues the whole team together. It is the openness to share ideas without being criticized, and sharing of great constructive conversation. The last important goal that teams strive for, as well as individuals, is empowerment. It is one of the most satisfying feelings to be able to have a word in something. Whether it is minute or astronomical, a say is a say. It is because of teamwork and synergy that the workplaces today are so efficient. It is because they have figured out how to make their employees happy that allows synergy to occur and the world to turn.
