Motivation

Motivation is the most important thing to look for in a manager and a worker. Without motivation the manager will be concerned with his paycheck then the quality of food going out. If that happens then the workers will start to have the same low standards for food. The reason an employee has to be motivated is because without motivation they will not try to get better, learn or make any decisions for themselves. Even if they are very talented the motivation is key because in the kitchen you need to make a lot of decisions to different situations that arise. Also if one of your workers is not motivated it might spread to the rest of your staff and hurt the final product. Over externship I realized how your workers need to be motivated to be successful because everyone who worked there was extremely motivated and any one that came in that wasn't motivated was not hired or was fired quickly. Motivation is most important the food service industry because the work is hard, the hours are long, and the pay is bad, so if you aren't motivated to cook, you would dread going to work everyday.
